Every family in the country covered under the Aayushman Bharat Yajona will get medical benefits of Rs 5 lakh per annum. There will be no limit on family size and age in the scheme to ensure that women, children and the elderly are not left out. The cover of this scheme will also include pre- and post-hospital expenses.
Assam Health Minister Keshav Mohanty told the state assembly that out of about 13.5 million eligible Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana beneficiaries in Assam at present, about 6.33 lakh people have enrolled under the scheme so far.
He said the state government has decided to identify the beneficiaries on the basis of the National Food Security Act and the number of eligible beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana will be increased to 25 million.
The minister said over 1.63 crore people have been issued beneficiary cards under Atal Amrit Abhiyan, the flagship cashless treatment scheme of the state government.
