Republic Day is celebrated on 26th January every year in our country India. India is called a republic because a republic means representatives elected by the people of the country. Our country became independent on 15 August After independence, the Constitution of our country India was approved by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26 November
On 26 January 1950, the Constitution of India was officially adopted and India became a fully sovereign state. The Constitution of the country was formulated due to the diligence and hard work of great men like Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation and countless freedom fighters who fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. Therefore, a national holiday was declared on 26th January across India and since then it has been recognized as Democracy Day of India and celebrated as Republic Day.
After the independence of our country India on August 15, 1947, the country had no self-made government constitution, instead, its laws were based on changed colonial practices. Therefore, the greatest task before the Government of India was to establish an official Constitution for our own country. The Constitution of our country, India, is the result l of the hard work and struggle of the honorable members of the Constituent Assembly under the chairmanship of Dr. Rajendra Prasad
Dr. Ambedkar was the father of the Constitution of our country. After studying various constitutions of other countries in depth, our founding fathers prepared our constitution and it is the longest constitution in the world. The Constitution of India took 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to prepare. The Constitution of our country India has 395 Articles, 8 Schedules, and 22 Sections.
The National Flag is hoisted by schools and colleges across India on this auspicious occasion on Democracy Day. Cultural events celebrating India’s struggle for independence are organized across the country. The President of our country India hoists the National Flag at India Gate in New Delhi. In New Delhi, the most prestigious parade takes place on the streets. An Indian President conducts the parade, which is coordinated by the Ministry of Defence. The event not only showcases India’s military prowess, but also promotes its diverse culture.
